Is my bettas colour dulling2007-11-24 23:37:26

When I bought my betta which was 3 weeks ago, I noticed his attractive colour.. a yellowish head, blue and purple tail with red tips. But as I have been reading I have learned that betta's fin colours dull after a period of time. I took a better close at him and noticed that by looking at him from the side his blue belly and sides are slightly dulling and don't look as blue as his tail. They look.. somewhat.. faded. Is this just his colour or is his colour fading..? What can I do?

There is beta food out there that will help him retain his color, you could try that. It's pretty easy to find, just read the beta food container and it should say on the front of the package. Also, test his water and make sure it's within the safe range.

how often do you change the water? and what type of treatment do you use?
could be any number of things

he could have a color changing/marble gene

could be wear and tear, old age

put him in a bigger tank with a submersible heater at 75-78 F.

ALWAYS use dechlorinators and other products to get rid of chlorine and heavy metals in the tap water before giving it to your fish- products are common and cheap.

watch what you feed him and watch like a hawk for sickness.

maybe get different food for your betta like Wardley Premium Betta Food this food enhances the color of your fish. And wardley is a good brand.
try this website , it looks like they can help maybe http://www.bettatalk.com/betta_diseases..
