Is my fish sick2007-11-24 23:37:27

He is swimming with a 45 degree angle toward the top and he always seem to fall to the bottom of the tank!

Answers:

Yes, your fish is sick, but he won't neccesarily die if you do the following:

1--change at least 25% of the fish's water. Don't just use tap water either--go to a pet store and pick up a water stabilizer. "Start Right" or "Goldfish Life" are two Jungle products that I use that work quite well.

2--put him on a diet. Sometimes fish get constipated if you feed them too much. Give him 2-3 days without food, then feed him small amounts once a day until he seems better.

3--While you're at the pet store, ask the very knowledgeable people inside. There are a variety of medicines that you can give a fish--usually in the forms of dissolving crystals or liquids that you can just plop in the tank. Again, products like "Fungus Guard" or "Rid Ich" by Jungle have saved my fish from untimely ends.

It sounds like it to me..I would test your water and go from there..It could also be an outside parasite..they sell stuff for that at petco. Maybe do a partial water change.

My fish used to do the same thing and he was fine.just look for any changes in his color and white spots which is ick.

Check the water for PH, ammonia, Chlorine, and all that. If it all checks out, then he could have a messed up bladder. That is what levels a fish, so he will most likely do this for a few weeks, then pass on.

Is there something to produce oxygen in it? If not then it is or has been using all the oxygen in the tank.

What kinds of fish? How long has he been in your tank, and how long has your tank been cycled? Assuming it is cycled - is this a freshwater or marine aquarium? How big is the tank, and what other fish are with this fish?

My fish did that, right before he died. If your changing the water monthly then he's probably going to die.
