I have had my platy for about 7 months now. i have 2 of them. One of them is yellow with a red tail and the "pregnant" one is yellow-grayish. the yellow one always follows the 'pregnant" one around and the 'pregnant' one has been hiding a lot. Its stomach looks like it is getting big and it has a blueish-blackish blob on its stomach. is it pregnant? Im not sure if i should separate it or not. Please help! Thanks a lot =)
Answers:Yes, I believe it is pregnant. When they get pregnant, they will have a gravid spot, as you said, behind their stomach, and behind their anal fin. It is blue and blackish. Once she's farther into her pregnancy, if you look closely at the gravid spot, you might even be able to see little eyes.

your platy is pregnant you should look closely at the side of the stomach and see little black eyes under the skin this is the babies can you put her in a breeding tank other wise they will eat the babies as they are born unless you have a large amount of plants in the tank for them to hide in if you can save the babies you will have lots of different coloured baby fish
