Is there some point at which you stop counting heads in the tank2007-11-24 23:37:50

I've had a community tank together for a fews months now, and the first thing I always do when I see it is count heads. Does one ever stop doing this, or am I doomed to be an eternal fish counter?

Answers:

Once a counter always a counter.

you will be counting heavenly fish in the afterlife
your doomed to never get laid
Don't feel awkward, I do the same. I believe it is a normal habit; you don't want to see one of your "fishey's" dead.
Ive had fish off and on all my life and at the present time have a 30 gallon tank, I always count heads, its a habit for me, Have to make sure all the boys and girls are in line for feeding time. LOL
I think it's just normal.

I only have 7 fish in 2 differents tanks and whenever I walk into my room, I double check and make sure their all still alive and doing well.

I'm a bit more morbid than just a counter.

The first thing I do is check the bottom for any remains, then I check the water's surface to see if anybody is floating sideways or upside down.

But I have always counted after that.

That's part of what having a tank is all about!

i used 2 count fish but now i av 2 many and dont bother!!

its 2 hard cos u keep double countin and it take 2 long!

All good fishkeepers do this. You HAVE to do a head count every day. If a fish died overnight you have to remove it ASAP so it does not pollute the tank and kill everything else in there. Plus, it is always a good idea to watch everything for several minutes and take a good look at all the inhabitants so you can catch a problem early such as a disease outbreak, aggression resulting in injury, etc.
I have 7 fish, and I don't need to count them.

I named all my fish =]
