Is there something wrong with my fish
I got three Zebra Danios today at Petco. I came home from work tonight and one was dead. Another has like.. red around his gills. Is there something wrong? If so, what could be the reason.
Answers:It definately sounds like ammonia poisening
Do a 50% waterchange right away, get yourself an ammonia testkit, and follow up with partial waterchanges of 25% every other day until your ammonia levels are at '0'
As for bringing back your fish, when you have done your waterchange the levels will be different anyway, so I doubt that they would erase your warranty
Usually they test your water and let you know what's wrong with your water, that way you can fix it
Hope that helps
good luck

You need to take them back to petco. They should take them back since you just got them. It may be something the fish had before you bought them, there is no telling what it could be. There are so many things that fish can get. Petco may know what it is .
Take this fish back. They have a 2 week guarantee I believe. It could be something the fish had before you got them, or it could be something that was brought on from the stress of being moved and placed in a new tank. Take a sample of your tank water to be tested as well.
ETA: no it does not void your warranty. It just helps them to try to figure out what is wrong. Also if it is your water they'll know not to sell anymore fish to you until they help you fix the problem, so that they do not lose anymore fish.
Its Ammonia poisoning, is your tank new? if so this is the problem. If your water is bad they wont refund you the money so try and get some water from a good tank.
