Appropriate Home. Eventually a large aquarium with an exterior power filter with a BIO-Wheel filter, a maximum of 1/4 inch of gravel, and an aquarium heater adjusted to between 78 and 82 degrees F.
All Sharks are jumpers, so the aquarium they live in must have a cover with no holes.
Recommended Diet. Floating flake food plus some freeze dried blood worms, which are actually mosquito larvae. Both of these foods are available in most stores, where pet fish are sold. Also occasionally feed Bala Sharks a few live Black Worms and live or frozen brine shrimp.
Compatibility. Bala Sharks are a schooling fish that will not be comfortable in a school with less than six Bala Sharks.
Good tank mates for Bala Sharks are all Gouramis, all Barbs including Tinfoil Barbs, all Danios, all Rainbows, a few Spiny Eels, one Red Tail Shark or one Rainbow Shark, and a school of Clown Loaches.
Size and Life Span. Bala Sharks can grow to at least 14" and live for several years, probably many years.

Just a note on Galactic's post: There are such things as freshwater sharks. Six species of river sharks are known, although due to their secretive habits, other species could easily be undiscovered. Check out this website: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/river_shark.

Wow, they are pretty neat. These silver sharks ain't really sharks, their true bony fish. Their only called silver sharks because of there body design. They do get pretty big though, almost a foot long so I guess you'll need a pretty big fish tank, 60 gallons or more to start off with! Their pretty safe to put with other fish, but large ones. Hope that I helped.<3
They are not sharks. There is no freshwater shark currently exist in the world. What you see is the Bala Shark. It is in the family of Cyprinodontoidae. They are peaceful and active fish. They can reach a length of 14 inches. Here is a link on the Bala shark.
