how do i get rid of them. the tank has just two gouramis and one plec.

Answers:

Do a 50% water change and don't feed your tank for two days. You may have some insect larvae swimming in your tank and surviving on uneaten fish food. Your fish will eat them if left with no option, and in future, feed less.

Could be fruit flies.

Clean the fish tank and hood thoroughly, and keep it clean.

Just the common fruit fly out for a drink.

Its fruit fly time of year Bast**ds are everywhere.

They sound like midgies or vinegar flies.

They are totally harmless but very annoying.

They are attracted to bright lights.

Your best bet is to either seal the hood as best you can or set up a bug zapper near the tank to draw them there instead of the tank, or if all else fails, you may just have to clean it alot.

they are most likely gnats, pesky little things. try putting a fly strip under the hood, attach it so it doesn't fall into the tank. in the mean time make sure there and no other sources of food for the gnats and flies to eat and breed.
