Does anyone know how to upgrade a rio 400 tank to fit 4 tubes but still keep the plastic hood/lid as they fit straight into the light unit and if another was added would leave a gap?

I doubt very much that you can do that. You could buy a second lid maybe and put both light unit parts on but then the cover parts would not fit properly. I'm not even sure you can buy the lid, maybe you can just buy the light part. The two lights should be enough, if you think they are dull it might be time to replace them because even though they still light they are basically worn out.

There's not really a way to do it no, Because the light unit is in the middle and there is 2 lids one on frot and one on back (that both open), You would probibly need to make new hood, But no there not really away if you want to keep the hood, Why do you want 4 lights anway? My tank is quite bright, Extra lighting will just lead to algae problems

hi, you can use 2 light units on a juwel tank , my friend has them on his marine reef tank ,i think you can buy a different set of plastic flaps ,hope this helps .
