he keeps swimming to the bottom of the tank and then shooting up to the top like a rocket. what is his issue?
Answers:its probably hungry
what kind of fish is it? if it's a Betta..they have a tendency to do that once in a while..mine does that
maybe he's just happy today? lol
fish play, just like any other animal.you may want to consider getting it a companion.unless it is a beta.
Maybe he's suffocating. Is he breathing from the top of the tank? I know goldfish do that if there's not enough air in the water.

What kind of fish? If this is a clown loach, or a Coolie loach this is normal behavior.
Test the water, you wan't a PH of 7 with no ammonia present.
my corydoras catfish do that, they gulp air from the surface from time to time to help control their buoyancy.
