I want a fish so aggressive, it will tear up anything, what is the best for fresh water? I dont want to spend more then $30 on one. I have a 55 gallon freshwater tank, with no existing fish, so what is the best?

PS I love pirahnas so if you know of the most aggressive piranha let me know, i heard its the black pirahna, is this true?

Pirahnas would be a lot more expensive than most fish to feed and take care of. One very aggressive fish is the Oscar, if you get more than one they would be ok only if you get them at the same time and they are the same size or the bigger would attack. Their fins on their backs are like getting a nasty paper cut if it cuts you.

Oscars are nasty and will bite anything you put in a tank smaller than they are. Piranha are illegal here aren't they?

Aggression comes in different forms (breeding-related aggression, territorial aggression, predatory aggression, just to name a few).

Extremely territorial aggressive african cichlids include:

- melanochromis chipokae

- melanochromis auratus (I witnessed a 5" auratus totally punk a foot long oscar once)

- metriaclima lombardoi ('kenyi')

These species can easily carry out killing sprees or totally dominate a tank full of other aggressive fish.
