My Goldfishs eye is turning White2007-11-24 23:39:17

My goldfish, about 6 years old, has both eyes starting to get white and it looks like it's turning blind. What should I do?

The eyes are turning white because of poor water quality. It is his slimecoat thickening either due to high nitrates or high ammonia.

Do an immediate partial waterchange, not going past 50 percent and thoroughly vacuming the gravel. Make sure to dechlorinate the new water and make sure its the same temp as the water he is in.

What size tank is he in and how often do you do tank maitenance and how do you do tank maitenance? Have you tested the ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates? If so what are they?
