Walmart should not be the place to go for your puffer's food unless they have a bunch of live ramhorn snails they need to get rid of.

Try frozen marine foods (such as the various Ocean Nutrition products which typically come in cubes), as well as frozen krill, (not the freeze dried stuff), and mysis shrimp.

Also live ramhorn snails from freshwater tanks. Some pet shops will give them away free. Snails should make up a large portion of your puffer's diet.

My green spotted puffers also go nuts over raw clams in the half shell, raw mussels, and shrimp tails (as well as other parts of the shrimp.get the shrimp in shell at the fish market). Getting puffer food from the fish market can be very inexpensive (I got a year supply of mussels for under $5)

When your green spotted puffer gets bigger they can consume small live crabs and crayfish.

I wouldn't buy live food from Wal*Mart..they've been known to carry disease due to poor conditions. The easiest thing would be to probably go to a local fish store and get live brine shrimp or actually hatch your own brine which is very simple to do.

private eye is right, they like snails or try feeder guppies..smaller the better. buy some anacharis out of a tank that has a lot little snails & seems like i always ended up with quite a few cruchy little snacks for my puffers

Usually walmart is the worst place to buy live food, it is eather diseased, too large, or too expensive. If you can find a pet store that will be the best bet you can usually find better quality feeders at pet stores for half the price of walmart.
