My Texas Dempsey is eating the sucking the scales off of my red belly Pacu fish HELP2007-11-24 23:39:33
I have a 55 Gallon fish tank (not saltwater) and my fish is sucking the scales of my other fish. My Pacu (The one getting sucked on) tries to flee the other one, but he is really big (bigger than my hand) and my Texas Dempsey chases him around the tank just to suck his scales. He doesn't bite him or anything, just sucks the scales off. I've had my Pacu about 6 years and my Texas Dempsey about 3.they have NEVER had a problem till now. Can someone please help? Both these fish are my babies and I don't want to see either one get hurt in this tank!

Jack dempsey is not a community tank fish. Any way try not to keep fish hungry.

Get a second, smaller tank. Keep them seperated for a while. I think that would help.
put a divider in the tank,or separate them. It could be the younger one is playing
