My Tropical Fish has fluffy white spots on him, what is it2007-11-24 23:38:46

I have a Lyretail Molly. She has some white fluffy stuff on her. A bit of her tail is rotted, and it has some rips and tears on it. Her head has some white fluff on it, just like on some parts of her body. Her spine is slightly curved. I have already seperated her from the other fish. What is wrong with her?

Answers:

Fungus and Finrot, not fun! There could be a touch of scoliosis with the curved spine going on also or maybe she got zapped by a bad heater at some time or another. But I would deffinetly treat this fish with a F/mg med. Anti Fungus/Quick cure are a couple f/mg.

Mollys do like a bit of salt in there water also, have you kept a bit in? Do test for salt content, f/mg can burn a fish if the salt is to high, so 0 is best at this point and she is already sick. Keep in mind that harsh medications can push a fish over the edge though. Boost it up with a medicated food back up. Medi gold is good. Sick fish shouldn't be expending the energy to surface feed, so a sinking medicated like medi gold is best.

No lights, mg can be deactiated by tank light, so make sure the tank is in a dark spot.

It should take care of both.

I know what you are talking about! My fish had the same thing wornfg with it. Your fish has a sickness called "Ick"..it is a parasite that is caused from stress, dirty water, or from a sudden change in water temperature. Go to the pet store and buy medication for it, it cost less then 10 dollars. It will cure it in a couple days. As for the rips and tears onher fins and tail.I cant help you. What kind of fish do you have in with it?.
