Powered acid for tanks will work or remove any coral or dolomite from the tank.

nitrates come from left over food. Ammonia levels are from fish poopoo. Sodium Bicarbonate will work and is real pricey at a pet store. Use baking soda-same thing under a buck.

Generally you shouldn't. Instead get fish that fit in your range. High KH makes you life easier. The cheap way is mixing with distilled water. Note that pure distilled water really bad for fish.

depending on what fish species you are keeping, you might want a high alk. Usually high ph goes hand in hand with high alk. This is something you want if you are keeping fish like african cichlids, mollys, platys ect. If you are keeping angelfish or neons or other assorted comm. fish that prefer a more neutral ph, you might need to purchase some driftwood which will lower the ph and soften the water, make it more acidic. You might also want to test your water out of the tap to see what your water naturally runs, this will be helpfull to help determine how to go about fixing your problem. Things that raise ph - aquarium salt, Ph increasers, sea shells, crushed coral, baking soda. things that lower the ph- driftwood, ph decreaser (rotting plants, extreme build up of nitrates/ammo, excessive rotting foods)
