I have a beta fish that is 2 years old in a fish bowl. He is floating vertically. He is still alive. Is there anything I can do to help him? Home remedy?

Unfortunately betas are traumatized by being caught and put in those rotten little plastic containers that are then put in places like Wal-Mart for kids to poke at them - and even to dump in things that make them sick or kill them.

Two years is a long time for a beta to live, and yours is probably at the end of his life. If you're sure he's dying, a humane way to let him die peacefully is to make a mixture of Vodka and oil of Clove and add that gradually to a small amount of water - don't let anyone talk you into flushing him down the stool or putting him in the freezer. Both are painful ways for him to die, as is bashing him over the head..hard to believe some people think these ways are "humane." I wish it could be easier for you - losing a pet is never easy.

not much but they are tough fish he may be just tired

try putting him in a larger container of water.sometimes the limited oxygen in the small bowls will get to them especially if they are older and have "special needs"

sorry but there is no cure for this. Right now he is weak in the process of dying. Sorry, but that's the truth.

I had Betta's too. It's a bad sign. It usually means they are about to die. But don't give up. Sometimes things are not always as they appear to be.
