My betta fish is sick He keeps swimming on his side and can not eat What could be wrong2007-11-24 23:38:11

I have tried t feed him but he seems unable to. It has been 3 days.

Your Betta has swim bladder. It's from over feeding him. If you stop feeding him for a few days it should get better on it's own. So far it has worked for mine. But if you would like they do make meds for it. try looking at drfostersmith.com or just in your local pet supply shop.

Swimming on his side? That sounds like he's on his last leg. Generally that means death is near. It's a fish, they die very easily. If you had him for a long time, his lifespan is probably just over. Time to flush him away and get a new one.

He is not getting goos supply of oxygen or water is unfit. Change the water fast and on the oxygen thing or move him to a smaller container and put oxygen in it. change water every 12 hours and he will recover but if u wont do he will die.

Usually if a fish swims on it's side or in circles it's his swim bladder. They usually die. What kind of fish is it. Exotic goldfish and Koi can be given frozen baby peas. For some reason this helps their swim bladders.

It sounds like he has swim bladder. I don't know if it is too late for him (& if so I'm sorry) but check out this website. Lots of good info. about bettas.
