My betta fish is still not doing good ,he is lying a lot on a side and still not eating at allWhat c2007-11-24 23:38:11

I do not know what to do . I have tried changing the water all the time adding aqiarium salt and some acid for killing the bacteria in the water. Every time i look at him i expect to be dead but amazingly still moves.I have also some ampicilin but he will not eat it. What else can I do? I even tried to force him to eat holding the paletes i used to feed him with a tweezer. Please if u have any advise let me know , anything, I only hahave him for 6 month.

check the water temp he may be cold try to keep the water around 75-80. Dont change the water a lot no more than 25% once a week. You could be stressing him out with all the attention you are giving him. He will eat when he is hungry. Lots of bettas prefer to eat at night, and they can go weeks without eating. Bettas should only eat an amount the size of their eye about once every two days. I had a betta do the same thing and when I warmed the water and quit feeding him as often he became 10x active

PERSONALITY:

Also called Siamese Fighting Fish 鈥?and for good reason! Two male Bettas in the same tank will usually fight to the death. Pets N Such will not sell Male Bettas for the purpose of 鈥渇ighting鈥? We do have available a dual tank that allows two male Bettas to see each other but not harm one another. When provoked, the Male Bettas will blow up their fins and become quite theatrical! While you can't keep more than one male in a tank, they are compatible with most other community fish, and get along with female Bettas.
