It sounds like it is too late for Stanley, Sorry!! I killed my beta too, not on purpose. I didn't feed him too much, I added new water to his old water and I guess it disturbed the chemical balance and he was dead the next morning.

there is medication out there for rotting fish. my beta died because of that so i suggest you either take fast action or start looking for a replacement! good luck little fishy!

it sounds like dropsy, or other bacterial or fungus infection. Get some Betta cure, a medicine at you local fish shop.

could be ick get some ick be gone at wal mart drop tablet in tank and it might clear it up, but sometimes it gets to far gone and its toilet bowl heaven. good luck hope you save Stanley

it sounds like ick fungus to me,they sell meds, for it at pet stores.

I read somewhere that a pinch of sea salt in a gallon of his tank water, then change. Good Luck!! ?:)~

Generally scales sticking out is the end. (Sorry) You could try treating him with trisulfa.

PS- Note that it's not ich unless there are white dot the size of salt grains.

Yeah - hate to say it but it sounds like your Betta has both Dropsy and Fin/Tail Rot.
