The eggs will go bad, and he'll eat them. (Or he may just eat them. Some males do.) You should never just put the female in. He should be able to see her for some time, and build a big nest 1st.
If there never was a bubble nest it's likely that your Betta is too young or inexperienced right now. He will eat the eggs without a bubble nest present.

If there is no bubble nest and your male betta made no attempt to make one then he is probably too young. With there being no bubble nest then the fish eggs have no where to be able to live. The bubble nest is where the the baby fish begin to come out of the egg and they stay there so the do not drown. Baby bettas have to stay in the bubble nest to learn how to swim and live underwater, and the male betta cares for them until they are free swimming.
