My female guppy vs my male guppy

My female guppy vs my male guppy2007-11-24 23:39:09

Recently bought a female guppy. Compare with my male guppy, the female one tend to stay in the top of the water and not swimming a lot. And the male swim alot and stay at the top and the middle of the tank. So is my female guppy normal?

Answers:

Have you ever stopped to consider that she is from another batch of fish altogether, and maybe the aqaurium was so crowded that they did not have much space for movement, why don't you try getting another couple of females to put with her and maybe she will liven up a tad.

The other reason could be that she doesn't want to draw attention to herself and get chased by the males all the time, because once the female is in season the males don't leave her alone.

But remember she is a female and all females have moods, maybe it is just one of her moods

no
The chick just likes to be on top

Maybe she likes it thatway

Yes ,it's probably pregnant..congrats!
Time will come when there will be babies. Wait.

When that happens, remove the male to another bowl.

The males "eat" the babies.

as long as she looks healthy and alive she is fine, males tend to be more energetic than females in my observations.
It seems like she is being stressed out by the male. She needs to get away from him and the top of the tank seems to be her answer. Get another female guppy for him to divide his attention.
Shes getting ready to have babies so add some floating plants like fox tails or anacharis.
