My female mollies have both got a curved spine this morning any ideas why
When i looked in my tank this morning both my female mollies spines have curved round and they are having trouble swimming, mainly staying at bottom of tank.
My male mollie and male guppie will not leave them alone, they keep trying to mate with them. Poor girls are tired.
Does this mean they are on there way out?
They have been all healthy up to now.
Any sujestions why this has happened and has anyone else had this problem.
Please help
also i have just put both females in breeding net to give them a rest from the boys.
Answers:i used to have mollies but found i could not keep them,they kept dying so i changed to keeping other fish,my mollies had a bacterial infection which made there spines curve ,they ended up dying eventually,mollies are brackish fish,and the black ones are especially hard to keep.
go to your aquatic shop and get a internal bacterial infection treatment and try that
they may be trying to lay eggs, make sure you put a bit of weed in with them, (to wrap the eggs in) dont know if they need the males to do this though.

My brother has a molly and it just did the same thing the other day and has done it other times. She just sits on the bottom of the tank with her body bent like she is going to die then next thing you know, normally the next day, she is up and swimming like nothing happened. She is the only one in the tank so I don't know why she does it. But it also seems like she does it whenever he changes anything in the tank. Plant's, rock's, water.
Your Mollies are now ready to breed this stance is to attract the males if they have not already,good idea to put them in breeding net,wish you every success.
sounds like they are pregnant, and look for a spot to hide
The gestation period is 28 days for livebearers

Hi has your molly just had babys?? When my molly went like that i noticed babys in the tank with her but she did die soon afterwards the baby fish i found did infact turn out to be mollys?? I hope this helps you find your answer
If it is babys she has had they maybe all eaten by your other fish in your tank now
