My fish just had a babies How do I feed these babies or do they get feed by their parents I need hel2007-11-24 23:34:04

Answers:

It's different for different fish species, but the best for you to do is probably separate the babies and the adult. Then you could put the babies into pond water, since pond water has lots of microorganisms the babies can feed on, since most babies can't even fit brine shrimp or fish food into their small mouths. Infusoria i think is the name of the microorganism. I think it might work to put some of the water from your normal fish tank in direct sunlight. Most fish tanks contain very little of those organisms, but pond water has infinites. Or i've heard that if you take the yellow of a boiled egg, and crush it into VERY TINY pieces and float some on the top of the tank water, the babies will most likely eat at least a few pieces.

It might not be this way for all fish obviously, so just separate them for now, because a lot of times, THEY get eaten by the bigger fish.

Yep, either put them into another tank, or put up a divider (get at fish store). Since you didnt say what kind of fish its hard to say what they'll eat. While you're at the fishstore, ask them.

i don't know a lot about feeding other fish but i know that baby piranhas eat baby brine shrimp.i know quite a few of other fish eat them too but i couldn't tell you what ones all you do is just go to your pet store and most of them will sell the brine shrimp hatcheries and you have to actually hatche the shrimp yourself.i think you can get frozen ones but i've heard stay away from those.but just go to your pet store, that'll be your best bet.
