My fish seem more iridescent2007-11-24 23:38:22

I've noticed in the past few days that my fish seem more iridescent -- especially my silver molly, and the very tips of my swordtail's fins (they almost look a shiny green -- he's orange). I haven't changed the tank's light source, and the lights in the room are the same as well. I haven't changed the type of food I feed my fish either -- they're on a flake & freeze dried bloodworm diet. (I have been feeding a little more flakes than normal, though, I think.) Any ideas?

20 gallon tank:

1 male swordtail

1 female silver sailfin molly

3 brilliant rasboras

2 glass catfish (had 3; 1 recently died)

5 ghost shrimp

1 pleco

Answers:

cut back on the food, only put in enough so in about 2min. there is none left 2 times a day, once in the morn. once in the eve. Then go to the pet store and buy some water conditioner, if you don't have a bubbler then buy that, and if they have white dots on them they might have ick so buy some ick medicine if they do. Also the filter in the tank might need to be changed. I can't tell without seeing them but i hope i helped. :)

sometimes as the fish gets older it just becomes prettier.. it's nothing too weird

my mickey mouse platy had a stage where his side was more shiny yellow and a little blueish.. but now hes old 3 yrs +
