Give him a little time to get use to his new surroundings. Flake fish food is always best and only very little.

Some new fish will not eat for the first few days because of stress. It happened with my fish. He started eating on about the fourth day. Fish can go a week with out food. Just keep an eye on it. If it dies bring it back to the store you got it from and have them give you a new fish.

I understand some fish won't eat for a few days but they should be ok and will eat as soon as they get adjusted to their surroundings. Try giving him a 'fish snack' - I give mine dried worms that you can get at the pet store. They come in a pink contained and they love them!

A a fair number of betta are picky eaters. Most store betta are use to eating either pellets, or flakes. They may initially baulk at eating something new. You can try the other type of food, or something like freeze dried brine shrimp, or blood worms. (Note while most bettas love blood worms many initially won't eat them.) Avoid live food as it can often carry diease. You should be feeding your betta a flake/pellet made primarily from worms/insects/shrimp/fish. (He's a carnivore.) The food should also float on the surface of the water.
