My red devil has always only eaten pellets2007-11-24 23:09:48

he is a little over 1 year and only eaten hikari bio gold pellets and for fun sometimes (rarely feeders) today i tried to give him blood worms and he just looked at them,, are the pellets good enough or should i feed him something else also,,

Answers:

The pellets contain everything he needs, and he can live a long and healthy life off of them, as long as you don't let them get stale, since they do loose nutritional value over time.

Feeders are fine as a treat every now and then, but they really don't give anything they can't get in the pellet. Another supplement you can try that is really good for the RD and his color is krill. Regardless what you try to give him, its new to him and he's grown accustomed to the pellets, and you may need to try a few times before he starts to eat it.

As a staple diet, the pellets should be fine. If you want to feed him something else, just feed your fish one feeder per week.

The pellets are a good source of food for him, But try putting in a few small baby guppies and see if he likes them, you can usually get them pretty cheap! and if he does, set up a small 5 or 10 gallon aquarium with lots of live aquarium weed like plants, pretty thick, but not over crowded, then buy like 6 to 8 female guppies and only 2 males, then when they have babies, which they do a lot you will have plenty of them for your red devil for almost free! because guppies eat flake food in a container already to feed from any petshop and it's pretty cheap too!
