My tank has been running for 2 days now, and the water is really cloudy, is this normal2007-11-24 23:39:32

I have had my 20 gallonn aquarium running for about 50 hours now. I washed the gravel and everything, so I don't know. I heard from others that it's some kind of bacteria. which is usual for a new aquarium. How soon should it go away, and will it hard my 3 long finned danios I have in there, helping to speed up the cycling process?

Very - the nitrogen cycle is getting under way, but I would like to encourage you to get the fish out of there, and do a fishless cycle. Here is some information for you on how that is done.

Try using Cycle or Stress-Zyme or some other bacterial filter enhancer. It can take up to a week or two for the cloudiness to go down.

yes this is normal. It might take a week b/f it clears up.

yep this happens with new aquariums. Its due to an imbalance of good bacteria. Put some water from another aquarium in or get a few plants

It sounds to me like your ph is all messed up. I suggest that you take some water in a clean cup and go to your local pet store and have them test the water to see if your water is unbalanced and what is making the water so cloudy. If you don't want to do that then do a 40% to a 50% water change, and clean the filters again. That should do the trick.
