OK my boyfriend just came over on his lunch break and brought me a beta fish2007-11-24 23:39:37

Can somebody please tell me as much as they can about how to take care of it.

That's really sweet of him. Just put it in a fish bowl and feed it once a day. That's all I did with mine and he lived for a while.

1. It's OK to put it with other fish, just not other bettas.

2. Any plants work, i suggest edible kinds. NO sharp prickly kinds.

3. Feed it betta food. (duh)

um..thats all i can think of right now..

oh rite! you may sometiems need this fin rott or fungus medicine tablet that you drop in the water. any place that sells fish will know ut i am talking about.

make ure they have clean water dont put with another fish!

they will fight there heads off, feed them not goldfish food! 1 with a beta on it! go to your local petstore to get more advice!

First, a beta is a carnivore. Make sure to get beta food, because that's meat based while other standard fish food may be more plant based. They'll eat the other food, but won't get the nutrients they need. That will keep your fish healthy and long lived.
