One of my fish is dying How can I make his passing easier2007-11-24 23:39:42

The fish is a glassfish; he's young and probably male. He suddenly became rather lethargic today - first he had spurts of activity in the morning (loop-the-loops and spins and bursts of speed), but for the past hour or so he has been periodically laying on the bottom of the tank. :'(

Answers:

If you're sure he needs to be euthanized, use clove oil to anesthetize him, the you can either decapitate him or freeze him. Clove oil is the most humane way to anesthetize. I've also heard you can put them in ethanol and they will die peacefully.

He may not be dying. I've seen alot of fish do this. Beta's do it all the time.

You can euthanize him. Mix baking soda and water together in a cup or bowl and place him in it and he will die instantly. This is what many pet stores do for sick and dying fish.

Make sure to put a lot of baking soda in it and mix it well.

That is sad,but like another answerer said,It may not be dead,some fish have done this so dont try to kill it,you could be murdering it.

Just kill it quick, instead of making it go through a long painful death. My beta has been through this.
