One of my goldfish died recently I havent canged the water yet should I
I'm not sure if my fish has died from a disease. There is stll one other fish in the tank will he catch the disease. Should I do a complete water change or only 20%. Also when my fish died the other fish was the most active I've ever seen why?
Answers:Your fish probably sickened because of poor water quality. change 20% of the water today, and again in three days. You really want to avoid changing too much of the water as a tank that is too clean is just as bad as a tank that is too dirty. You can take a sample of the water to the pet store to see if there is something off with it to be on the safe side.
A
same happened to me a couple of weeks ago!! i havent changed my water still, and doubt i will, fish like to feed on dead fish (well at least mine seemed to anyway!) well its disappeared so i presume its been eaten anyway!!
Uhh.. Ya! Dead things give off dieseses. causing other fish to die too. once in my gr4 class 1 fish died and affected all the other fish and then we also had a crab in there and it died too.
I would defiantly change it. You never know if it had a disease or something that could be contagious to the other fish. I have no idea why the other fish would be more active unless the deceased fish was eating most of the food and now the remaining fish eats better. Of course remember to allow the water to come to room temp before putting the fish in the new water you don't' want to put him into shock.
yes
YES! if u miss it u should try cleaning it so later u wont be reminded of it
yes you should change the water . but only 20% . and also add the purifier. usually it is likely that the other fishes can die too because all the fishes are friends with each other .. your fishes can be active because the fishes are sad and hyper nervous . but i am sure they are sad .. u should change 20% .. and use water purifier for fishes..
I would change the whole tank.
take your cues from the fish. if the fish is well leave it be. if something changes, try the water changing, but do it all. move the fish in the old water to a new container(pot or bowl will do) and get the temp right before adding the fish back. I hope this will help you both.
nah you dont have to. maybe your fish have just seent eh shock?
I would start a regular schedule of changing the water 20 to 25 percent every week or so. That is the healthiest schedule for the fish.
Do not wait until fish are acting sick to change there water. The nitrates that build from fish waste are deadly to your fish.
i agree with jennifer and i've been keeping fish for more than 20 years
You should do 10% water changes every week, no matter what!
And the other fish were active because they probably enjoyed eating his body..its gross but they're scavengers, and nothing beats a hearty meal!
