Please help
Community tanks.small fish: 10 to 20% every 2 weeks.
Replace siphoned water with fresh chemically-treated water.adding it to the tank 1 gallon at a time (so as not to stress the fish).
Adding an undergravel filter is healthy for the fish. Water will be clearer also--especially when used in conjunction with a back power filter. It does not, however, reduce the work. You will never need to remove the UG filter if you do timely changes. Siphoning the water from the bottom, through the gravel, removes debris.it does NOT disturb the biological filter.
All fish stores should carry all sizes of undergravel filters.
Cover with a 2" substrate (gravel).
Good luck!
u need to stop using so much fish food put only what they can finish in 5 minutes i managed 2 pet stores in chicago also the best place to buy an under gravel filter is apet store like petco.
UNDERGRAVEL filter
you can get that from any petstore, even walmart pet section has them.
keep the aquarium away from direct sunlight,
use less intense lights, like
use a tubelight instead of a regular bulb, and that too, do not leave it on for ever, fish need some rest too, so u have to switch off the lights on a regular basis. and
feed them only once a day,a nd only the amount that they can consume say in about 5 min
add aeration,
use Hang on the Back type filters rather than undergravel filter
u need an air pump alongwith the undergravel filter. a small air pump will make enuf bubbles to create the neccessary effect.
last but not the least, and which many ppl fail to understand - bigger the aquarium, lesser the maintenance required
in a 10gal maybe u ned to change the water on a weekly basis
where as on a hundred gallon u could wait for a month for the next water change, that too depending on the number of fish, and the type of filters that u have.
increase the number of filters
use two hang on the back type filters maybe AquaClear mini or Aquaclear 20. they r the best aquarium filters
