Should I leave the light on in an aquarium if Im away for a few days2007-11-24 23:40:16

I'm looking after a friend's two fish (like goldfish but bigger). My friend said the aquarium light would turn off automatically at night but it didn't and I can't see a timer. I'm going away for a few days -should I leave the light on or off?

Thanks

Answers:

okay.your looking after a friends fish.but your going away for a few days.i think your friend should have gotten someone else (who doesn't have to "go away for a few days") to look after their fish. To answer your question.dont leave the light on.it will cook the fish.

if the room is dark it would be better to leave the light on but only while you are away . also who is going to feed the fish while you are gone
leave the light off it might start a fire if it gets to hot
hi

i would switch it of.if you leave it on all the time then you will see lots of thick allege and you will run down your electricity.a tiny bit of allege is good for a fish but lots can kill them

good luck

If your friend has it set up, or knows that it goes off at night, leave it as she had it. On or off doesn't matter they aren't going to die from being in the dark.
its up to you am a vet it will do no harm xx
If der is more light der is no harm. But fishes also need a bit of sun light and mind u dat if more of sunlight also leads 2 de death of the fish..
The light is primarily for a persons viewing ability.
