Since sharks are out fo the question Can you have a pet Jellyfish2007-11-24 23:39:59

Since sharks are kind of not possible. Does anyone know anthing about being able to have a pet jellyfish? I can afford to pay the price, but I don't know if jellyfish are an option for a pet. If you know anything, any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can own pet sharks. I've seen them for sale at exotic pet stores. The sharks I've seen are about 18" long, so you'd need a large salt water aquarium. Pet stingrays are cool. I had one that was from Baja, about the size of my palm. It would eat squid from our hands.

i wouldnt believe so, jelly fish live in the ocean, they need the water to be at certain temperature and also they eat plankton. dont think it would be possible. if you can it would probably live for a few days
You gotta be joking me, right? And if you are.maybe the 'jokes' category would have been a better choice for placement of this Q.
depends what kind. some jellyfish are sturdy enough to live in an aquarium, but many species could die if they slosh up against the container to hard. Also remember you are going to have to feed it so you are either are going to have to put zoo plankton or minnows in the tank. Finally where are you going to get one? the ones that wash up on the beach are usually doing so because they have reproduced and are about to croak anyway.
Sharks are not out of the question, I have kept several small species before. Jelly fish are really really hard to keep alive.
sharks are actually possible. They require a huge tank though and really good care and need an expert, and someone who is willing to go diving down into the tank. http://www.sharksupply.com/stock.htm.
