Sorry wasnt specific enough about my fish question
Hi, I asked PetQnA.com but I guess I should have been more specific. I bought 1 guppy and 2 mollies 3 weeks ago and then bought 5 neons on Sun. and all of the neons died, in PetQnA.com I put everyone has died meaning the neons, but that is not the way people are taking it, so I am hoping that someone could help me. The guppy and mollies are still living and was wondering if you have any suggestions on what kind of fish to buy next. Neons must be very sensitve huh? I would like something with good colors but don't really want to have a tank full of just guppies and mollies. Please let me know what you think. Thanks in advance.
Answers:Get some swordtails or platies. Swordtails come in a couple of nice colors. My brother kept guppies, platies, mollies, and swordtails. He tried neon tetras once, and all but one died -- similar situation to yours.
neons allways die. i all ways name them after the date i think they will die. like oct. 26..lol
not sure if this will help. african cichlids are beautiful and colorful. although they are not a community fish, they do well with other cichlids
G'day, what size is your fish tank? I'm the other way around, all my guppies died, leaving all my neon tetras alive. Anyway some hardy colour for your tank? I wouldnt suggest putting in ciclids if your tank is small, but they are a beautiful fish. I myself have Kribensis Cichlids, but they are breeding like rabbits and cane become very aggressive. You could try some more neons, they like to be in groups of about 20 (they are a schooling fish) Blue Rams, Clown Loaches (These can grow big depending on your tank size) I have a couple of Angel fish, they seem to get on well, Rainbow Sharks, are pretty, but again can be a little bugger at times, Electric Yellows are wonderful, have a look on a few web sites and seem the colours and whether they can be a community fish for your tank size. Good Luck
Would love to help you out. What size is your tank first and have you tested for ammonia or nitrites. Neon's actually are highly susceptible to ich, whitish blemishes that appear cottony. Ich can spread to your other fish. If it is the water quality do water changes daily and do not add fish for awhile. It is also a good idea to put new fish in a hospital tank before adding them into your show tank. You don't know how many different places that poor fish has been before it reached your home or how little it may have eaten.
Neons are very sensitive to water quality. If I had to guess, I'd say your tank isn't cycled, that's probably why they died. Here's a link, do a search for cycling a fish tank. Should give you all the info you need. Don't buy anymore fish until the tank is done cycling.
