Does anyone know a site to go to where they list the types of fish (tropical) that are live bearers and egg layers?

I'm pretty sure that Wikipedia has a list like that. Check out this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/list_of_fre.
Yes. http://www.fishlore.com/tropicalfishprof.
go to http://www.fishbase.org/search.php. look up your fish by commom name, and it will tell you all you need to know about them.
www.fishprofiles.com is also pretty good.
Generally speaking, livebearers are: all the types of guppies, mollies, platies and swordtails.
Most* everything else is an egglayer.
