Benefits of Using Spirulina Algae

Increased and more uniform growth rates when fed at the recommended .5-2.0% inclusion rate.

Spirulina improves the intestinal flora in fish by the breakdown of otherwise indigestible feed components, thereby extracting more nutrition from the feed.

The same beneficial flora or bacteria produce vitamins and displace harmful which is why fish fed Spirulina have less intestinal compaction, a slimmer abdomen, and are more resistant to infection.

Spirulina stimulates the production on enzymes that transport fats within the fish s body. The fish utilized the fat to power growth instead of just storing it and becoming flabby.

Spirulina Enhances Color

The 5 ppt carotenoid pigments that are concentrated in Spirulina algae improve and intensify the coloration in fish. This is especially important for koi and goldfish for commanding a higher price in the marketplace. Chlorophyll and phycocyanin also enhance the skin colors.

sure.you can also try nail polish.it makes the fish's colour very bright and also if you put it on their lips it makes them look like you want to kiss them
Spirulina is good but NLS is better.

NLS tends to bring out the colour of the fish ( if they have any).

It's going to depend on the fish. Carnivores like betta shouldn't be be fed it. Omnivores like molly, guppy, gourami.. It's geat for if you are alternating with a meaty flake, or freeze dried worm/shrimp. By itself it's not a healthy food for fish that aren't herbivores. (This is why many spirulina flakes include fish meal.) I fed it to my molly, and pearl gourami with freeze dried brine shrimp, and blood worms. My yellow male molly's color is incredible.

Note that no food will give a fish coloration it doesn't have. Also a healthy diet is a varied diet. And healthy fish are colorful fish. You can get the same effect by feeding thawed, and peeled peas, sliced zucchini..

I like the scientific answer. But from my experience if it makes a difference I haven't seen any. My guess it is just not that noticeable affect.
dunno what it is just wanted 2 points :P
