The color on my Beta fish is fading Is this normal
PMS?
they lose their color a little with age
The same happened to my fish, and then he died about 3 weeks later. Maybe it's just old age, or it could be from a change in food or a chemical in the water. Have you made any recent changes in the way you care for him?
Possibly.
Betta's maintain their bright coloration from the food they eat. While bettas can survive off most any fish food, pellets specifically made for betta's help them maintain their vibrant colors.
If your fish is losing its color, you may wish to change it'd diet, otherwise, it could be sick.
This is normal.as long as there aren't any symptoms of a disease. There color can also fade due to stress. http://freshaquarium.about.com/cs/anaban.
The color on your betta could be fading for a multitude of reasons. You can check a few things out and see those are it.
1. Are you feeding it betta food? Goldfish food, dog food, and parrot food are all out. They are no good. Feed him only Betta food. (I had to throw in some humor)
2. Is he actually eating it? I have to watch my bettas as they like to play with their food. They catch the pellet, hold it, then spit it out, and swim after it trying to catch it again. Most of the time they don't swim fast enough and it is lost in the stones below. Make sure he is eating.
