I have a 10 Gallon tank i currently have 3 neon tetra's about 1cm each, 2 Gouramis they are both about 1.5 inches. I also have 2 Platies which are about a inch each, and 2 days ago they gave birth to 6 Platy fry, is this enough room or shall i try selling some? If theres enough room would i be able to fit 3 more tetra's in. thanks for your help

A ten gallon tank should generally only have fish that are an inch for every gallon. So if you have 5 fish that will get up to 2 inches each in a 10 gallon that will be fine. Anything more thna that will create overcrowding, risks for diseases, ammonia level to be high, etc. Its always good to be lucky and have a breeding or pregnant fish in a community tank. I would encourang you to get a sponge filter to prevent the fry from being sucked into the filter ytou have. Also it will make a cleaner and better tank witht eh amount of fish you have and help avoid those problems mentioned earlier. I think if you get rid of the Gouramias it may be better as far as how many fish you have. But if you decide not to then get a fry holder to seperate them fromt he others and make regular water changes to your water every week and monitor your ammonia level very carefully.

That is real cool about your fish having babies. Well, I just found out that my African Cichlid is pregnant, and I have another cichlid and an Oscar in the tank the Oscar is still small though. Well, I have come to learn that little tropical fish liked to be in groups of either 4,6, or more but as long as they have some kind of swimming place they should be just fine. I am actually going to move my little tropical fis into a 10 gallon tank and they are in a 55 gallon tank right now.

If the platy fry survive I would find them new homes, or if you want to keep them, get rid of the gouramis. Your platies are going to keep having babies, just so you know.

the babies don't usually survive without a breeding net. My platy had a babies a couple of months ago and none of them are still alive. We try to catch them and put them into a breeding net but we only got one, that one wound up dying. If you do get them into the net you can either feed them baby brine shrimp or take your tropical fish flakes, put a pinch in a plastic bag, the flakes (in the bag) in between your fingers until iit becomes a fine powder. When you feed them take a tooth pick, dip the very tip into the water, take it out and place the tip in the powder, the powder should stick to the toothpick and you can put the tip back and the water and the food should come off.
