Tropical Fish Dying HELP
Hi, my tropical fish are dying one by one, most of them seem okay i have some expensive fish and there dying!! FIrst of all this leopard dino has red things sticking out of its front fins its going to die soon and annother fish is getting covered in air bubbles! help please!
Answers:If this tank was set up very recently, then the losses are probably due to ammonia poisoning (common in newly set up uncycled tanks).
If this tank has been set up for several months, provide your water parameters (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, KH, GH, and pH), as well as tank size and quantity of fish before the losses occured for a more accurate diagnosis of your situation.
How long has the tank been set up?
uumm you could take him to the vet i know it sounds a little crazy but you could do that you could even get surgery on them if they mean that much to you
CHECK YOUR WATER TEMPERATURE AS ALLOT OF PEOPLE DONT THINK AS THE WARMER WEATHER APPROACHES,ALSO CHECK YOUR PH,OR GO TO A PET SHOP AND ASK IS THERE SOMETHING YOU CAN ADD IN THE WATER,AS IF THE FISH HAVE ANY SPOTS OR FUNGIE ON THEM,EMPTY YOUR TANK SCRUB IT AND ALL THE OBJECTS IN TANK AND JUST B4 YOU PUT YOUR FISH BK IN TANK HAVE A BOWEL OF WATER WITH SALT IN IT DIP THEM IN IT FOR A FEWW SECONDS B4 PUTTING THEM BK IN YOUR TANK,AS I HAD FISH DIEING ON ME, AND WAS TOLD I KEPT THE TANK TOO CLEAN,AND THEY HAD A SLIMMY FILM ON THEM AND DIPPED THEM IIN SALT B4 PUTTING THEM BK IN TANK AND IT FIXED THEM
you need to add something called cycle to your water..go to the fish store ASAP.or check your nitrate levels.theres a kit you can use .or get a one liter sample of your water and they can test it for you.you must act fast..
Did you just set up the tank? That's probably why the air bubbles. If so, I'd recommend taking the fish back to the store until your tank has cycled, and do a fishless cycle. Do a search on the first link for cycling a fish tank and fishless cycling. It will give you the info on what to do.

As far as the red things on the danio, are they red streaks in the fins? That's probably ammonia poisoning, because your tank isn't cycled.
Or do they look like this picture, scroll down towards bottom to anchor worms, if so has treatment listed for parasites.

Are you sure it's air bubbles and not ICH? Bad water conditions can cause ICH or a new fish added to tank that was sick can cause the problem. You have to treat your tank if it's ICH or the whole tank of fish will die.
