WHISPER FILTER fish
we have a wisper filter for a 40 gallon tank. It has recently stoped working. If you put your hand on the bottom of it it is still vibrating. THe water just dosent come out the little spout thing. Weve tried everyting in there troubleshooting guide. Please help
Answers:Maybe the intake tube is full of air ? Try to get the air out.
I suspect your spinning part inside the pump has burned out and need to replace it. They're cheap to replace, just bring the part to any local pet stores, I'm sure they will be able to show you the new part that you can buy. Also use Q-tip to clean inside the fan thing, you'll find nasty stuff down there. It may help a lot.
If the new part does not make the filter run properly, your filter may be too old and you might need to buy a new filter.
I'd recommend Marineland's penguin bio-wheel filter or Aquaclear. I don't really like Whisper filter, they break after short while. Penguin and Aquaclear have strong pump and last for years.

i used to have one of these. Have you taken it completely apart? If you have one that I'm thinking of, it will have a little 2 inch magnetic spinner thing that comes out of that black motor box. It comes out and brush it real good, because debris can usually get stuck in there. good luck.
Have you tried thoroughly cleaning it? The main cause of "broken" filters is that they are too dirty inside (a lot of people don't know they can remove the impellor and clean it), and just a simple cleaning will make it work again.
If it still does not work after being cleaned, you might try looking on the Whisper website to check for any sort of warranty on the product. Or if you bought the filter within the past couple months, you could probably bring it back to the store and exchange it for a new one (if you have the receipt still).

take it totally apart. I had that problem with one of mine, it was just totally clogged inside, and needed a good cleaning. you have to take the motor completely apart, and clean out the place where the little fan thingy is, and clean off the fan blades.
