Water in Biorb is permanently less than clear
One goldfish, one tank and the water is almost always less than transparent. I wanted to put plants in but the fish shop guy said a goldfish would eat them within days so I got three plastic plants instead. I put in a new filter last week, replacing the original that came with the Biorb six months ago, but, if anything, the colour if the water is even worse.
Answers:I am going to have to say that there probably isn't enough surface area for bacteria to grow on so it is floating freely in the tank. Using silk plants instead of plastic one will help as they will have a rougher (and therefore more) surface area. You can also try using a more natural and porous gravel (something fine, or designed for planted aquariums). Reducing the amount you feed in half will also help you out a great deal, as will stopping the use of bacteria. Let your tank develop the bacteria that is most suited for it. Use bottled spring water and don't bother adding any more chemicals to it.

How big is your tank? How often do you feed your fish? Sounds like, without more info, you could be over feeding your fish. Any food left over will settle to the bottom and be broken down by bacteria. This will give a cloudy water appearance. Try giving less food more often or just less food. Or you can get a more powerful filter that can filter more water per hour. Aquaclear is a good choice. Also Penquin (or Emperor).
I would think Liam is right. Have you tried water changes? wait a while since you just put in the new filter and then try a 25% water change, goldfish produce a lot of waste.
along with these other precautions, i can actually add more.i have had the same problem with a tank. the tank could be too small, bacause golfish are the most beautiful decoration fish ever, but they come with a price- they are absolutely the most disgusting gluttons ever. they eat and poo, and poo, and poo some more.small food, small fish is always the best way to go with goldfish. if the filter is a carbon, be sure that you really cean it good, because that can really mess up the color of the water.if it is a large tank, corydoras catfish can really help keep the tank clean. the other option is a wait-n-see approach, because the mess may clean itself better than you can.
Sounds like too much food and not enough bacteria in your filter. Cut the food down straight away, most people over feed their fish. Secondly do 10% water change a week and use old water to rinse out any internal filter foams. Fresh water will kill any good bacteria. Good luck with your fish.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU CHANGE THE WATER DO YOU WASH OUT YOUR TANK, STONES ORNAMENTS ETC YOU NEED TO CLEAN OUT THE TANK AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK IF YOUR TANK IS NEAR A WINDOW YOU WILL GET ALGAE ON THE SIDES OF THE TANK. HOW MUCH FOOD DO YOU GIVE THEM AS THIS ROTS AND DISCOLOURS THE WATER AND PUTS TOXINS IN THE WATER.
PERHAPS YOU SHOULD THINK ABOUT CHANGING THE TYPE OF FILTER YOUR USING, I'VE FOUND THAT THE TYPE THAT'S LOOKS LIKE A BIG HAIR ROLLER ATTACHED TO A PUMP OUTSIDE THE TANK IS BEST FOR KEEPING A TANK CLEAN, YOU CAN BUY VARIOUS CLEANERS FOR THE TANK SNAILS, AND SUCKER FISH. THEY LIKE TO CLEAN THE SIDED AND EAT THE ALGAE. I've NEVER USED THEM IN MY TANKS BUT MY BROTHER HAS WHEN HE HAD A VERY LARGE TANK, WHICH WAS HARD TO KEEP CLEAN.
