What are good betta fish tankmates2007-11-24 23:41:21

I'm wondering what fishes would make a good tank mate for my betta. He is currently in a 3-4 gallon tank.

No matter what other people says..BETAS CAN BE PUT WITH OTHER FISH! I have had in the past betas with swordtails, guppies, sharks, and angel fish. The betas didnt bother anyone, and the other fish didnt bother the beta! Right now i even have a female and male goldfish in with a beta, they have been in there for quite awhile now! And the all three love each other. They MIGHT chase each other around, but thats a form of their playing.

They will fight with any other fish you put in there with them. Get a small bowl for the Betta, and put other fish in the tank.

My friend had a betta fish and she would use a small 12 cent goldfish once a week to give the betta excersize. It wouldn't harm the other fish, but it scared the hell out of it. It seems mean but we read that you can do that every so often. Also, you should put the betta in a smaller enviroment, like a glass fish bowl or even a flower vase. they don't need that much space.

Ghost shrimp, and snails. They clean up the place too.

After them, nothing. Bettas are very territorial and will harass anything else to death.
