Hi, we have hard water where we live and the top of our tank is getting very white with lime build up from our hard water.
What can be used to safely clean this off?
Answers:First of all, don't ever use LimeAway. Just the fumes are enough to kill your fish. There is a commercial aquarium lime cleaner, but it is pricey and I think it is just a solution of vinegar and water.
Vinegar on a soft cloth is the best stuff. That is what I use. Just wet the cloth with vinegar and rub it off. If it is on the glass, use a razor blade to scrape it off. Hold a paper towel under it so it doesn't fall into the tank. The lime is not dangerous to the fish, but you don't want to see it laying in the tank.
Maybe some babywipes will work because it doesn't have any chemicals.
use a sponge on a stick that is what i use and i had the same problem then use algae control on this site and under products water treatments and use these products they are the best they work the best go to petsmart or something to get them or use aquasafe for goldfish
