If you are beginner, I suggest looking into livebearers, such as guppies, mollies, platies..

You could also try dwarf gouramis or a large school of fish like cardinal tetras, neon tetras and other characins.

Try aquahobby.com for more information on fish compatilibty. You may have to convert metric into US Standard, but it's worth it.

whatever you like. its big enough for just about everything. but my favorites are angelfish. they are pretty. and they live really long. my first pair got to be 6 years old.

Goldfish. You can practically freeze them solid, and they'll still live. They come in lots of colors and they live a long time. I have had mine for over fifteen years and they're doing great. I'd recommend them to anyone.

it depends entirely on what you want to achieve. I have danios, guppies, mollies and platties. My daughter has cyclids. My fish are quick moving and colourful andsmall, there is constant movenment in the tank and I have over 2 dozen , my daughters fish are pacid, and will grow quite large. she has only 3 in one tank and 2 in another. So, it depends on what you want.

I know some people think its silly but my favorite are goldfish. They are so interesting and pretty, inexpensive and live a long life. They also get very large which I didn't know until I started keeping them. I love my goldies! You can only keep 1 per every 10 gallons of water because of their adult size though (some can reach 10inches in length or more). So for a 30 gallon that would only be 3 goldfish. OR - 2 goldfish and a dojo loach aka weather loach. Or 1 goldfish and 2 dojo loaches - I highly recommend dojo loaches they are so fun to watch! (look like little eels) You must have a coverd tank though because they race around the tank so fast they leap OUT of the tank! They can survive hours on the floor miraculously - amazing little critters. Can't go wrong with an apple snail - only get one though or you'll have about 200 babies :).
