What do you feed your Oscar fish2007-11-24 23:41:27Answers:

you can feed them many things and it is good to have a variety of things such as frozen shrimp, frozen fish, blood worms, earth worms, any insect you can find, vegetables like carrots, lettuce peas, green beans, zucchini, you can also try the beef heart recipe, tropical fish flakes this is also a good part of there diet, and Oscar pellets. Also you can crush up vitamins and add it with there food. I give my Oscar all of the above and he is healthy and happy,I would not recommend feeder fish unless you raise them yourself or quarantine them even then you still give only give as a treat for feeder fish has no nutrients in them

little minnows from the creek
red carpet
you can get feeder gold fish from the fish store for 1.99 a doz
Beta fish food from the pet store.
Do not feed your Oscar feeder goldfish from the pet store unless you want to deal with ICK all of the time. If you insist on feeding them goldfish remove all uneaten goldfish and parts within an hour of putting them in the tank. Frozen shrimp works well as a regular diet and for special treats feed them any kind of soft shell bug you can get your hands on. Flies, spiders, etc. And for the special treat worms, mine would jump out of the tank to get a hold of a worm. :^)
frogs, baby toads
cichlid pellets, he loves godfish but very bad for oscars
Oscar pellets, freeze dried blood worms, live blood worms, crickets when they are big enough.
Cichlid Pellets work great. My buddy has an Oscar (7" long) that he feeds large cichlid pellets, the Oscar has beautiful coloring and is very active and healthy. He also has fed the Oscar feeder goldfish, which get consumed at a rate of approx. 12 feeders in 24hours. That didn't help the tank stay clean, I'd stick with the Cichlid Pellets.
I gave mine these huge fish pellets. then as treat for them to to eat and me to watch i put minnows in.
OT and C live have a good list. I also agree, stay from feeders, they'll introduce diseases into your tank, and they're too messy for oscars. Good pellet food should be their main staple, with a varied diet of the above listed. I'd watch the spiders though, a lot of them are somewhat poisonous to one extent or another. Also could try frozen cocktail shrimp-just thaw in a bowl of the tank water and cut it up. That'll help give them good color as well. One last thing, get some liquid vitamins, baby vitamin called Poly Vi Sol or Centrum and at least once a week soak the pellets in it till it's absorbed and feed it.
