Yep, golfish are dirty, LOL.

A filter isn't absolutely necissary, but great if you don't want to change your water every few days, what kind depends on what size take you have. I use an external filter on my 10gal, and an undergravel on my 1.5gal.

A few live plants, (available from petsmart, or other store), will make your goldfish VERY happy, he will eat them though, so expect to have to replace them. A few fake ones help your aquarium look nice.

A little cave to hide in is usually appreciated.

It's good to feed your fish more than one kind of food. I give mine a combo of flakes and crumbles, with tubifex worms as a treat.

Hope that helps! Goldfish are great! I usually buy the 25 cent feeder ones to save them, they grow big and pretty, and are usually very healthy, not prone to the same genetic defects the fancy varietys have.

(Tip: the silver feeder goldfish turn orange as they mature.)

first thing is water , then a filter and or bubble stones and maybe a few fake plants and of corse food every day i dont think gold fish need a heater but ive always had 1 in my tanks they dont need a light they get enough daylight

If you have only one goldfish you will need to get at least one more.Goldfish do not like to be alone.Get a good filter and feed him goldfish flakes.He should do well after giving him these things.Good luck.
