get a wet dry filter its expensive but you will have to clean tank allot less fewer water changes and fish will be allot more happy and probably live longer
Check out the filstar XP series.
look at the box it should tell you the info on the tank it is for.or go to eney store that sells fish or fish products and ask them.
Go to PetSmart and check out the filters there. I have a 50-gallon fresh water aquarium, and I use the filters from PetSmart. Good Luck to you.
Try anything with a biowheel. Ask at your local pet store and they will know what you are asking for. You don't need a wet/dry unless you are doing saltwater. A biowheel is great for this, you will need one with two biowheels for a 50 gallon. I rarely do water changes or test the water with this, generally i just add water and dechlorinator and I don't have a problem with loosing fish. If you will be having fish that are fragile you will have to be more vigilant, but cichlids, oscars, and basic tropical fish should do well with basic upkeep!! Enjoy!!
Whisper PF 60 (better get something more powerful for goldfishies though). I have a Whisper 60 in my 20 gallon goldfish tank.
A size Large filter made by Tetra and the filter is called Whisper
Depends on what kind of fish you have in there. If you have an Oscar, I'd say go with a cannister and a hob. Community fish, I'd go with a Marineland or Penguin that does at least 500gpm
Well Tyler, If you live in a town with a Pet Smart store in it go by and ask to see the filter type you want to use. If your question is what type filter you need, it will deepened on your use. Ask someone locally, who's tank you like the appearance of, what type and why they chose it. Since you asked i think you care about your pets so they will do well.
A bio-wheel. It is hands down the best type of filteration for any size of fresh water aquarium. It has a normal filter, and then it has this wheel that the water runs over, as it comes out of the filteration device. After a short period of time, a bacteria starts growing on this wheel. Hence the name, "bio-wheel". This bacteria acts as a super charged filter. The bacteria actually consumes anything that isnt healthy for the tank. Once you have it up n running, the only thing you have to change is the small filter in the back of the pump. It filters out amonia, and anything large enough the wheel wouldnt take care of.
I have absolutly no idea why people prefer small spinning pieces of paper(bio wheels). Much of the info on them is pure hype and advertising. Though i think they are efficient, i simply will not beleive that a piece of paper will do a better job than 1 1/5 pices of huge foam, then filter floss, then the bio-max media found in aquaclear filters. If you really want "wet-dry, try out sticking an airpump into your aquaclear, it will still cost less, and be way more efficient.
As for the filter, and aquaclear 110 or 500 would be great. If you can afford so would an eheim 2217. The eheim is the best name for reliability and efficiency in the cannister market, and the classic 2217 is the best value. You can also mix and match the aquaclear with the eheim
I have a 55 gallon with 2 filter systems I have a aqua clear 300 and a penguin bio wheel.
I really like the aqua clear 300 better than the bio wheel.but they do keep my tank clean.
