What fish could I stick in my ten gallon tank2007-11-24 23:40:49

I'm doing a class project for marine Biology and I need some fish or a fish that can withstand a temperature of 23 degrees Celisus a pH of 8.4 and the salinity ranging from 28-32ppt

I need it to have either sand, rocky/coral or plants in the tank as well.

Its a 10 gallon.

Do you have any suggestions ?

Are you an experienced fish keeper or do you need something simple? Is this a saltwater set up or are you intending this to be brackish? If you have a saltwater set up for the aquarium, I would suggest one damsel or a couple blennies or gobies. If you have a freshwater set up, you are going to have to use brackish fish, and there aren't many that will keep in a 10 gallon. You can keep a couple of black mollies in a brackish 10 gallon aquarium, but they are usually kept at very low levels of salinity in the pet store so you would have to raise your salinity slowly. 23 celsius is pretty cool for a lot of saltwater fish and corals, so you'll have to make sure you keep subtropicals that can handle that temperature. The salinity is on the lower end of acceptable for salt water, and the high end of acceptable for brackish, and the pH is a little high for a brackish aquarium. If you aren't keeping coral in the aquarium (live in salt or crushed in brackish), there is a good chance the pH won't be buffered in the aquarium and it will drop (not good for the fish). Actually the ocean is such a consistent, stable environment that all marine fish have basically the same requirements in terms of pH and salinity though some fish are from coldwater areas and others are from warm water.
