What fish is the most aggressive a tiger Oscar or a Pacu
I recently moved and had to give my 3 pound oscar away:o.
Well, I just Purchased 2 pacu, and 1 tiger Oscar :hat . Well the tiger oscar is about the size of a quarter, at least pretty close to a quarter, but not yet that big.
The tiger >: chases them both! (1) pacu being the size of a 50 cent piece in size, the other is quarter size or a little bigger pacu. all in a 55 gallon tank. :eek
Question: Can anyone tell me why the pacu's don't attack back? Or is the tiger Oscar more aggressive
Answers:Oscars are far more aggressive than Pacus. Pacus are actually very timid fish; Typically if you walk up to a tank with a pacu, he will swim to a back corner. Although the Pacu is related to a Piranha, and does have teeth, it is a vegetarian.
I've known several people that have had luck with Oscars and Pacus in the same tank, but it sounds like you may have a very aggressive/territorial Oscar. You've owned an Oscar before so I'm sure you've noticed that each Oscar has its own personality. If this persists, I recommend returning the Oscar or the Pacus, or purchasing a separate tank for them.
And as someone else has stated, 55 gallons is way to small for 3 of these large fish. Be prepared to be giving these guys away as they grow to full size, or to purchase a tank at least twice the size of the current tank.
oscar they are way more aggresive a pacu is actually a vergiterian but as they do not know theyre diet they will eat anything, but also the unwritten rule of fish, any fish that can fit in another fishes mouth is food, but oscar are very aggresive but other great aggresive fish for fresh water you may wanna look into are flower horns and peacock bass, the flower horns are the most aggresive fresh water fish period
tiger oscar is more aggressive
Even Pacu have teeth they eat fruit and nut in the wild
oscar fish is more aggresive. they even eat pacu that can fit there mouth.
the oscar is more aggressive.
pacu's are generally peaceful herbivores, that have the potential to grow to around 2ft long and you should probably return them to the shop, unless you're planning a 400 gallon plus tank in the near future!
your oscar will need an upgrade eventually too, an adult oscar needs a minimum of 75 US gallons and won't tolerate many, if any, tankmates.
