You can go by personality if it is a mean fish name it jaws,or you can name it like i named mine swirly cuz he goes in circles constantly, or blue cuz it is blue.

Why, oh why has it never occurred to me before that someone would name a fish. For some reason, I think that is a very strange thing to do...it's a FISH, not a warm-blooded cuddly thing that needs a name for you to call it...come on, does a fish HEAR you call its name?

I've had two, and I named them both after characters in books that I liked. The first (now dead) was named Gandolf, from Lord of the Rings. The second fish (still alive) is named Pantalaimon, from The Golden Compass; we usually call him Pan. Good luck.
